"Having made excellent and intelligent films such as American Grafitti and THX 1138, George hatches a cunning wheeze to concoct a sci-fi flick called Star Wars. He haphazardly ropes together various themes from classical literature, writes a hilariously bad script and bungs in some whizzy effects. The whole thing is meant as a satirical gag: George is saying, "Look everyone - here's the sort of lowest-common-denominator crud I could be making! This is what the future of cinema could look like if we're not careful!
Unfortunately, the joke backfires when people really quite like the film. Undaunted, George plows on with a further five attempts, eight billion re-releases, an animated series and merchandising worth more than the GDP of a small African country, in the hopes that eventually we'll all get it. Gawd bless the man for trying, I say."
