In my experience...
...there are people who have a natural affinity for cannabis, and there are those who don't. It seems as if you fall into the latter category. I have also known people - older than you - who were confirmed non-smokers all their lives, started smoking joints and then became committed fag smokers. Not good.
As an illegal product, you can't hope to get a specific variety of it when you buy; you get what the market demand is for, which nowadays is "cheese" or "skunk" which is strong, generally grown with the use of lots of hormones and chemical nasties, and frequently sprayed with glass to increase its weight. This is unless you choose to grow your own - there is just enough time now to get some seeds planted outside, which is - if you're determined to go down this path - your best bet to ensure quality control.
Recently published data would seem to indicate that there is a 50% chance that using cannabis would bring your Crohn's into remission: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23648372 so this could be worth a go. I have helped defend people on possession charges due to medicinal use in the UK (they got off) so I wouldn't worry about the legal implications of growing 2-3 plants in your garden (hide them among tomato plants is the best bet to avoid kids stealing them though). Growing much more or having an indoor grow room is much riskier though.
If you go ahead with this, just don't use tobacco. Use a pipe, or try making brownies etc. The internet is your friend and can provide much better advice than I can. Good luck.
