I work for a very large company which employs a significant number of senior managers who believe that you exist to pander to their every need at any time of the day or night, 100% of the time.

If something definitely needs doing before tomorrow, then I
will stay late to finish it, but you get no thanks for it - it's just expected of you - even if the urgency attached to the job is purely artificial or the result of someone else's fuck-up.

As a result, one of the guys in my team, who is somewhat outspoken, but very good at his job (he'll never be sacked, but he'll never get promotion either) has taken to responding to such urgent requests with the alleged David-Brentism: "A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine."

But then he backpedals and does it anyway.
