This is a question Banks

Your Ginger Fuhrer froths, "I hate my bank. Not because of debt or anything but because I hate being sold to - possibly pathologically so - and everytime I speak to them they try and sell me services. Gold cards, isas, insurance, you know the crap. It drives me insane. I ALREADY BANK WITH YOU. STOP IT. YOU MAKE ME FRIGHTED TO DO MY NORMAL BANKING. I'm angry even thinking about them."

So, tell us your banking stories of woe.

No doubt at least one of you has shagged in the vault, shat on a counter or thrown up in a cash machine. Or something

I must confess
All the grumblings about "the banks charged me this and that and won't let me take my money out" don't get a huge amount of sympathy.

With any other business, you'd play by their rules, after all it is what you sign up for.

I appreciate they are money grabbing barstewards, but then so is any capitalist based organisation.

I could get on my soapbox now but won't.

You might sign up for it
Because having a bank account is an absolute neccessity to work in this country. It doesn't make it fair that they stick about 8 feet of fist up you when you make a mistake.

Precisely
Pretty dumb thing to say.

Well
I suppose that despite many crap jobs, being a student, having no job at some times, i've never had any bank charges.

I suppose not spending what isn't there helped.

Hardly necessary
Yup, you need a current account to be paid your salary via BACS - but you could just go to the bank once a month, withdraw your salary, stick it under the bed as a month's spending money - then repeat the cycle next month. The only way you can incur penalties, charges and general annoyance is by actually using additional services like direct debits, debit cards and overdrafts, which nobody's making you do.
