This is a question Ignorance

I once was in a programming class where the task was "build a calculator". A student did one with buttons 1, 2, 3 all the way up to about 25 and then ran out of space on the screen. We've asked this before but liked it so much we're asking again: What's the best example of ignorance you've encountered?

Darn foreigners
I work for an EF college, one of the students turns up to pay for something with a Bank of Ulster £20 note. The credit controller, I shared an office with him back in 2008-09, received a call asking if we could accept it. He thought long and hard asked person who called many questions and finally said we could as long as it was Pounds Sterling and not Irish Punts.

2 points -

1) Bank of Ulster is in Northern Ireland which is part of the UK and issue £ Sterling notes. (NB. Only Central Bank of Ireland ever issued IR£ notes)

2)Republic of Ireland was one of the first member states to join the Euro and has it as it's currency since 2002.

Sauce for the goose
I once heard the landlord of a pub in Scotland complaining that shops in England wouldn't accept Scottish notes. So I tried paying for some drinks with an Ulster Bank tenner, which he refused.
