The Little Friend by Donna Tartt
I don't know if it's just me, but every girl I've been involved with during the past ten years has had a copy of this book on the go at one point or another, like every woman in the UK was issued with a copy. I don't think any of them ever finished it, either.

I did read it a few years back; it's okay, nothing special.

After I read Little Friend
I came across another book which was startlingly similar and published earlier to no acclaim at all. Can't for the life of me recall author or title. Something along the lines of A Death in the Neighbourhood or similar but just googled and zip. Made go me hmmmmm though
