MehBooks are entertainment, so why shouldn't people read children or teen orientated books? Just because it was aimed at children doesn't mean it is a bad story or lacks any of the hallmarks of a good book.
Admittedly I probably wouldn't compare JK Rowling to HP Lovecraft, but both are entertaining reads none the less.
It is no different from me watching (and enjoying) a Pixar film or kids TV...
