We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

Never heard of him or the book afore.
It's looks like it might be bleak in the summary, is it a top read?

One of psychology-driven book, yet nothing really happens in the book. Its about poverty and bordem. Think George Orwell with no plot and less politically didactic. Yes its bleak in theme but full of light hearted humour. Its my favourite book ever, but I understand its not to everyones taste (if your into plot twists and action)
