We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

While my feelings aren't that strong, I was rather disappointed by it given the hype. Nowhere near as clever as it was made out to be.
However, don't overlook David Mitchell entirely because of it. I read Black Swan Green beforehand and thought it was excellent (another reason Cloud Atlas may have failed to please). It's a semi-autobiographical story about a young boy growing up with a stammer.
