I was 9 when the first one came out. I liked the first three. They read like the old Enid Blyton novels.
Then her writing became less engaging and more cinematic when she got her movie deal. I liked them less.
I have read them all, and they're not bad. I just don't think they're worthy of wholesale adoration.
