Oh, I should mention that I tried and failed to get into Iain M Banks.I don't doubt that he's a brilliant writer, but I picked up a couple of "Culture" novels and couldn't get into them enough to finish them. Just too fantastical for me to imagine and connect with, I think.

I like his 'normal' fiction, never been able to get into his Sci-Fi stuff though.(
