Another method.
One of the methods at ours was called the 'Spiner' where you would elbow your victim with great force in the spine. It made a lovely dull booming thump noise as the victim collapsed shoulders arching back in a heap of slavering agony before thrashing about on the floor. Had to watch your back in them days, quite literally.
