That's not actually a rimshot....
A rimshot is a usually described as simultaniously hitting the skin and the rim of the drum ..
Ooohho look.. a demo. This guy REALLY needs to tighten his snares though.

We used to teach newbies to lay their stick on the skin and the rim, and then hit the static stick with the other...
