Cars
"Here in my car", said 80s pop hero Gary Numan, "I feel safest of all". He obviously never shared the same stretch of road as me, then. Automotive tales of mirth and woe, please.

A rotting corpse makes a terrible smell in a car
or so my builder told me.
He bought a very nice car at auction which seemed, he later realised, rather unusually spotless and pine-smelling inside.
Over a few weeks, as the disinfectant wore off, he noticed an awful stench. No amount of air fresheners would cover it and his wife and kids eventually refused to travel in the car.
He did a bit of digging and found that the car's last owner had killed himself in it, not being found for quite some time afterwards.
Presumably the unfortunate man's family had had the car cleaned up and sent to auction soon afterwards - it was a newish car and worth a bit.
For my builder, that was the last straw. He paid a local scally to torch the car, claimed on the insurance and washed his hands of it.

hehe reminds me of this..
I live in south of Spain and Moroccans all return home from all over Europe in the summer. They always carry loads of stuff on their cars. Utter junk most of it. But it must be worth something in Africa! I read a story that A Moroccan couple was arrested at the ferry port. Why? Because dear old Grandma had died on the journey down.. Smell must of got bad, so they slung her on the roof and carried on :)

Mythbusters recreated this
using a Chevy Corvette Stingray, 2 dead pigs and 6 months in a lockup in the San Fransisco summer. Not a pleasant result at all.

Similar story
This was back in the 80's when I was a yoof in the RAF posted to Germany. One of the guys in my block bought a Porsche 928; an almost unbelievable car for a mere airman to have. Turns out he got it extremely cheap for exactly the same reason. Some local German had topped himself and lay undiscovered for ages. Even though they replaced the carpets and headlining, the smell never went away. The guy that bought it didn't care as he had no sense of smell....and no girlfriends either!
