I don't think its against the law to do thatPulling in to the nearside lane specifically to undertake is both illegal and a bit twatty, but I'm sure that if you're within the speed limit and just happen to be faster its OK. If you approch traffic lights where the inside lane turns left and the outside straight on, I can't imagine you have to wait for a queue going straight on if you're turning left. Maybe.
