I'm not sure the law is corrupt in this case.. the police drove him home to get him out of the way so they could concentrate on what they saw as a more serious crime - rather than a young person being rather idiotic.

as a pedestrian who has been hit by a drunk driverI wouldn't say it was a less serious crime to drink and drive. Corrupt in not stopping someone when they were drunk and in a vehicle would be corrupt in my eyes. They didn't uphold the law.
