The summer after my A Levels, my family, and many others in the village, were badgered into taking on a French exchange student for a couple of weeks. There were about 30 of them in total, and this year the coolest of the bunch happened to be the guy staying with us, so half the group would flock around him most evenings. One girl in particular was a drop-dead gorgeous, supermodel-like vision of beauty who made the rest look like a bunch of schoolchildren, and it was all I could do not to dribble on my shoes the first time she turned up. My mission was clear, and I went out of my way to act as unofficial host to the exchange students in the evening, putting up with the annoying 13-year olds and mouthbreathers just so I could be closer to this dreamgirl. Until somebody pointed out she wasn't 18, as I'd assumed, but 14. Luckily the word paedo hadn't been invented back in 1991, but I still felt dirty and perverted for weeks afterwards.
