Cheap Tat
OneEyedMonster remindes us about the crap you can buy in pound shops: "Batteries that lasted about an hour and then died. A screwdriver with a loose handle so I couldn't turn the damn screw, and a tape measure which wasn't at all accurate."
Similarly, my neighbour bought a lawnmower from Argos that was so cheap the wheels didn't go round, it sort of skidded over the grass whilst gently back-combing it.
What's the cheapest, most useless crap you've bought?

Car
I bought a Seat Leon - it was about £8k. Not my best purchase as the VW after it was far better.
Did it stop me buying another one? No - this one was £12k.....
My current VW is, by far and away, the better car.
I really, really have to stop buying cars on impulse....

Impulse
You spent 20K on impulse? What do you buy after the exercise of due diligence and care - castles and yachts?

Um
Actually, I've bought 4 cars on impulse - Spent more like 35k in total, one of them I didn't even like... I've had 11 cars...
I nearly bought a £25k BMW last month - bought a sensible Passat @ £14k instead

I thought a Seat Leon
was, to all intents and purposes, a VW Golf.

A Seat Leon is a Golf
as far as buying replacement parts for it goes.
I had a Leon for 3 years, flogged it 4 months ago after:
The Windscreen leaked and came back to my car to discover a 2 inch puddle in passenger footwell
3 ignition coils needed replacing
Gear box turned lovely and spongy requring extra effort to change gear
Clutch was on the way out
Buying a Leon instead of a Golf is like going to the market and buying Adidash trainers. Spend the extra and get the quality. I now drive a Toyota and after months very please with it!

Leon
I had the Leon TDi FR - the 150bhp jobbie - nice in the dry.... On a wet road - you're better off throwing yourself into the path of a large bus - at least you know for sure where you stand....
