Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

I've lost track of the number of times
I've had this argument with a Northener. Anyways on one occasion I got so wound up about it I got out the Oxford English Dictionary and looked up 'dinner' Dinner is described as the "main meal of the day" so you could equally have lunch and dinner or dinner and tea.
Sorry I know, diplomacy and compromise are not welcome on the internet, but maybe we could try this once, you know for the kids and the small fluffy animals and whatnot...
