My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Mmm, posh Scouse/any Scouse - oh, how i miss Liverpool!Should briefly explain i'm a girl from the Southern Counties (hate that term but is relevant) - so am outside of London, but not outside enough to be in the countryside, rural areas.
Not had a privaliged upbringing, but am fortunate to be healthy-ish and happy, so cannot complain whatsoever compared to others.
I feel i must say that some of the greatest years of my life were had whilst i was at Liverpool John Moores Uni - e.g. when i went on my Open Day, i was met with people who were so unbelieveably genuine; when enquiring for directions to various places - "i'll take you there love, it's sort of on my way" (it wasn't) - you wouldn't get that from where i'm from so was more than a refreshing change!
From that short period onwards, all Scousers were no longer perm-haired, trackie-wearing, car-nicking stereotypes i'd previously imagined - a lot of them were and ARE lovely people.
I miss Liverpool a hell of a lot.
Miss the friendly nature. And the accent.

I don't have a problem with the populace of Liverpool. Don't get me wrong......I know a few people over there that I hang out with that I met on my Myspace page, and have met loads of times since.
You couldn't want for better people. It's just a shame that the place is marred with so much sterotyping its unreal.
You have that twunt Harry Enfield to thank fot that with The Scousers sketch, and the overly hammed up accents and carryings on of Brookside. They really shed a negative light on Liverpool in my opinion.

Hopefully people aren't as dense to believe the outdated stereotypes anymore (btw, what's Harry Enfield doing back on BBC1 at the moment? He really should give it up now...)
Talking of stereotypes, my northern counterparts at uni used to comment about my close proximity to Walford, merely because I live 20miles from London - this was obviously in jest, but I found it quite amusing!
