My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Received PronunciationOtherwise known as the standard English accent, not considered "regional". The accent that BBC newsreaders traditionally used, before they decided to start using presenters with other accents.
