My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

My sister's the same.She also made her children say 'toffees' instead of 'sweets' and believes that tattoos always indicate criminality.
Sis indicates her constant disapproval of others' failings with a loud TUT, which we hear a lot.
However, we don't hear much from her about illegitimacy these days, since her 'babyfather' son's had two kids by different women. Funny, that.
