My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Accents doesn't = commonI have a broad Yorkshire accent and it is my pride and joy.
I also know plenty of people who could be considered as "wealthy" who are polite, well-mannered and considerate and speak more broadly than I do.
Accents are about identity, not social status!
So yep, regional accents FTW.
