Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

fliddish cutlery holding
Yeh. The missus holds her cutlery like a real spaz. It has bothered me since day one, but with some deep breathing and frequent trips to my 'happy place' I can just about endure every meal time. Turns out she gets it from her father; I have tried to emulate the way she holds the things and its just alien. Thing is they (less so her, more so the parents and her brother who would have featured in last week's QOTW had I some time) think they are a cut or two above most people (wrong).
