My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

Yes but, having said that...Scouse. Please tell me that you forgot all about scouse when you had that little rant. I am sure that, if you had recently heard a little scouse, you would have included it as an exception because there really is no excuse for that grating, whining, pathetic skreech of a tongue.
