My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

It's not the misuse that upsets me so muchIt's more the inflated self-importance that has caused it.
I NEVER pick on people who get their grammar wrong because they don't know it.
Only those who should know better, but get it wrong through pomposity.
