The B3TA Confessional
With the Pope about to visit the UK, what better time to unburden yourself of anything that's weighing on your mind by posting it on the internet? Pay particular attention to the Seven Deadly Sins of lust, greed, envy, pride, posting puns on the QOTW board and the other ones. Top story gets to kneel before His Holiness's noodly appendage, or something

When I was very young
My brother and I found an old lady's purse, which contained forty English pounds, and we didn’t hand it in.
We didn't tell our parents, knowing full well we'd be made to return it if we did... And deducing that any large purchases would arouse suspicion, we blew the fucking lot on sweets.

When I was young, I saw forty pounds on the floor but I panicked and ran away! That would have bought a lot of rhubarb and custards :-(

£40 buys a hell of a lot of sweets
And it bought a hell of a lot more fifteen years ago.
Why the cocking hell did you run away!

I thought it might be a trap and Jeremy Beadle would be around the corner pulling it on a bit of string...

My brother and I found a purse with about 250 quid in it, in 1974. Scarborough. Turned it in to the police.
Thought nothing of it. Turned out it was holiday money for a single mother and her two kids. We got a fiver each for being honest and upright schoolkids (I was maybe 13.)
One thing has bugged me all these years. Scarborough? Who holidays in Scarborough? FFS.
Length? We were there about a year before moving down to between Leighton Buzzard and Bletchley.

That would have been about 10 weeks wages in 1974....
I could have thought of better things to spend it on than Scarborough. Like anything else really.

Like getting the hell out of Scarborough? I was only a kid, else I'd have been gone. What a dump.
