My brother and I found a purse with about 250 quid in it, in 1974. Scarborough. Turned it in to the police.

Thought nothing of it. Turned out it was holiday money for a single mother and her two kids. We got a fiver each for being honest and upright schoolkids (I was maybe 13.)

One thing has bugged me all these years. Scarborough? Who holidays in Scarborough? FFS.

Length? We were there about a year before moving down to between Leighton Buzzard and Bletchley.

That would have been about 10 weeks wages in 1974....
I could have thought of better things to spend it on than Scarborough. Like anything else really.
