He was awake enough. Well, talking. Difficult to tell. I figured it'd be rude to leave before the end (had been gotten away etc.) so I completed the deal and left him there, clutching the headboard as if it were driftwood. I stumbled back to downstairs, pausing only to wipe my hoe-handle on a curtain or something, and made my way to the bar, promptly falling asleep on it once I had ordered my gin. Norwich isn't what it used to be.
