You've completely missed the point.What he's "sneering at" is the current idea that "all writing (or music, art, whatever) is equally valid" and the only difference between high art and churned-out shit is one of snobbery.
Everyone buys into this postmodern wankfest because it gives them a good excuse not to try anything difficult.
