To be fair,He had a number of filing cabinets... I only ever saw two filled simultaneously (two people balancing precariously usually being enough to keep everyone else in line).
Humiliation is the clearly the most effective punishment... harsh punishments such as writing 5000 lines or a physical beating, result in the pupil being commiserated by his fellow pupils, but a good quality humiliation will result in everyone taking the piss.
