I'd guess that
a) it gives people the opportunity to think up a humourous* way of hinting at the name of the company involved
B) it gives people an excuse to pad out their stories (with a humourous* way of hinting at the name of the company involved).

*Actual humour may vary. Values as low as zero my be encountered. monster munch is not responsible for the enjoyment you derive from this, and agrees that it may be minimal.
