This is a question Corporate Idiocy

Comedian Al Murray recounts a run-in with industrial-scale stupidity: "Car insurance company rang, without having sent me a renewal letter, asking for money. Made them answer security questions." In the same vein, tell us your stories about pointless paperwork and corporate quarter-wits

PC World's 'techies', and I use the term very loosely
are fucking morons.

I remember having fun with Leeds branch of PC World one time when someone I was doing some work for bought a mouse. This was back in the happy days of Windows 95, the mouse was designed for 95 but my punter made an error and bought it for use with a Windows 3.11 system so I took it back and explained the problem. 'Ah' sez numpty behind the counter 'the problem is that this mouse is specially designed for Windows 95. You can't use the features if you don't have 95'.

Me : Yes, but the system my punter has bought it for is running WFW 3.11
NBTC : Ah, it won't work properly on that, you need Windows 95
Me : But they don't have Windows 95, they're running WFW 3.11
NBTC : But this mouse isn't designed for WFW 3.11.
Me : I know.
NBTC : You need Windows 95.
Me : No, I need a refund.
NBTC : But if you upgrade to Windows 95, everything will be OK.
Me : But they don't want to upgrade to Windows Fucking 95...

This went on and on until I started fucking shouting and eventually they gave me a refund. This was in 1996 and I haven't set foot in a PC World since.
