Not totally stupid...A single sheet of paper costs nearly nothing. It's at least better than the system at my uni where you can send a print job and it will simply disappear if you don't have enough credit. No notification, no refusal, and finding out your print credit is very laborious.

I once sent 12 x 1 page docs to the printer and when I crossed the room to pick them up, found 12 x "ooops-face" sheetsThey could have just let me print my docs for the same cost to them, so it made no sense to me.
