This is a question Hotel Splendido

Enzyme writes, "what about awful hotels, B&Bs, or friends' houses where you've had no choice but to stay the night?"

What, the place in Oxford that had the mattresses encased in plastic (crinkly noises all night), the place in Blackpool where the night manager would drum to the music on his ipod on the corridor walls as he did his rounds, or the place in Lancaster where the two single beds(!) collapsed through metal fatigue?

Add your crappy hotel experiences to our list.

Worlds most livable cities
Vancouver is constantly cited (every time I see the results of one of these surveys, Vancouver and Melbourne are vying for top spot) as the 'Worlds Most Livable City'. The most popularly quoted survey is done, I think yearly, by the EIU which ranks cities on 40 indicators within the categories of stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

Maybe these things are more memorable (or even just talked about more in the media) when the city you live in is highly ranked.
