Bush man mentalIn the mid 80s I remember walking back home from a football game in the local woods which we did often with my brother and neighbours, all of whom were about 8 - 10 years old.
As we approached the top of the green and entered the woods to get home (the woods encapsulates a fairly flat green) we saw a bloke frantically smashing a pram in a bush. He was using his feet and hands to break a typical 4 wheel pram.
He looked in his 30s or 40s, completely deranged but casually dressed with a shirt and trousers etc.
We just carried on walking and said no more of it. It, being one of those things that are so odd and disturbing to a young child that it gets locked away in memory.
He was probably a mental, of which there were many in our local woods during the 80s. It was a dangerous place back then.
