Interesting...In his collection of essays, 'The Voice that Thunders', Alan Garner describes the hallucinations he had when suffering fevers as a child. He'd feel like he'd floated up through the ceiling of his room and into some place where there was an old woman. The woman would go after him but he knew that he must never let her catch up with him, because if she touched him, he would die.
