How about wearing black trousers that don't hurt your legs? I'm pretty sure most materials come in black these days.You're making a very big issue about htis being a 'medical condition', and then making the same thing something on principal. It's very rarely a situation where both are right.
You should dress the part for the event, "Dress the part, look the part, be the part". If you feel you could wear what you want, if you turned up in an oversized hoody and baggy jogging bottoms?
