This is a question Desperate Times

Stranded in a hotel in an African war zone with no internet access for two weeks, I was forced to resort to desperate measures. Possessing only my passport and the clothes I stood up in; and the warning "You can catch it shaking hands with a vicar out there" ringing in my ears, I had to draw my own porn in order to preserve my sanity.

Alas, it all came out looking like Coronation Street's Audrey Roberts, but, as they say, any port in a storm.

What have you done in times of great desperation?

I remember once I was moved to answer a QOTW after lurking for about four years, only to discover I didn't have any 'hilarious' anecdotes about improvised, poverty-stricken recipes or having a shit in less than ideal circumstances.

My desperation was almost palpable.

Oh, come off it!
Are you telling me that you have NEVER been desperate to:

your whole life?

No addictions?

you must have....

I've been desperate for various things over the years, but honestly can't call to mind any situations where I've been forced into eating ketchup and cardboard or wiping my arse on a shoe, and it seems these are the desired stories.

I suppose I could relate the time I was so desperate for sex that I, in an alcoholic haze, spent £140 on a taxi ride at four in the morning to meet an ex-girlfriend who had randomly and drunkenly texted me to say hello. And it was crap.

I'm not proud.
