Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."
Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.
What's disappointed you lot?

First kids: twins! We were tremendously excited. One of them turned out to be severely autistic. "Disappointment" isn't quite the right way to describe my reaction to this - it's a lot more complicated than that - but it could have been better (and worse) in lots of ways.

it must be an absolute headfuck to have a disabled kid in any way. Autism in particular is so random.
However, there are some bloody good books out there about it (try Amazon). It's all about understanding the mindset and how they think. Tourette's(.)(.) could probably point you in a certain direction, as she's worked with autistic kids for years.
Good luck.

for the encouragement. After 14 years we have built our life around it, and there are actually many positive aspects. I appreciate the support.
