Ah Stewart LeeNow there's a good example of increasingly rare excellent British comedy these days. I'm not really a massive fan of stand-up, but there are about five or so really good stand-ups these days, and he's certainly one of them. But generally stand-up has gone down as well, as too many are chatty ones who can't think up proper routines.
Also, far too many panel shows these days. Most of them are amusing distractions, but hardly any are great. Obviously, ISIHAC was excellent right up until the end, and HIGNFY used to be also. QI is a cut above most of them as well. But I think an over-reliance on panel shows is part of the problem.
