This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

As of today my new biggest disapointment is......
The house my wife and I were buying that would have been perfect for our daughter and the other babies we plan to have which was just in a our price range appeared to be in our grasp, we got a mortgage even in the current financial climate and put in an offer that was rejected. We did some crazy saving and begging we raised enough to offer the full asking price, the house had been on the market for nearly a year and we had wanted it the whole time, it had 11 rooms and a bathroom like a palace, we wanted badly.

We bit the bullet and offered her the asking price.

She turned it down.

She then took the house off the market as we had "insulted her"

Bloody Cheek!
That's bloody cheeky of her.

"Insulted" my arse. Sod 'er. Find somewhere else, the daft old trout can manage on her own!

I know :(
but that didn't stop my wife from spending hours in tears. She thought she had found her dream house.

Is murder illegal?

@Phillie Joe
It depends on how well you can act, and if they beleive, "But she just ran out into the road... I couldn't stop in time..."

I feel your pain
It's so hard not to fall into the 'perfect house' trap - even though the asking price is steep, you find yourself thinking about what you'll do with the house, start to think of it as 'yours'...

Bathroom like a palace?
Shirley, just the throne room bit?

The hell with her!
Well, the joke's on her. If house prices are really dropping like they say, it'll soon be worth less than your original offer anyway!

Insulted or not, the sourfaced old bag will still have to sell at some point.
Meanwhile, you and the middis can save up for something better!

You're right you know
Ah I feel better now.

Fuck 'er

Hey,
Why not contact her estate agent and put in a new offer...

...£10,000 below the asking price just for fun?

11 rooms?
are you a bloody rabbit or something?
(, Tue 1 Jul 2008, 11:04, closed)
only 4 of them
are bedrooms ;)

I have just called her estate agent and said if she changes her mind we will pay *insert 10k under the asking price* and they have made a note of it ;)

if it's been on the market for that long
she's obviously a picky cunt who won't be happy unless someone offers her way more than it's worth. this means no-one will buy, she'll get desperate and, like the last half-hour of a car boot sale, the price will drop lower and lower. eventually, she'll bite your fucking hand off for that -10k offer.
just hang on!

Look on the bright side...
...in a week's time, you may see an even BETTER house that's cheaper. You'll get it, love it, and look back on this moment that you think is a disaster now, and say "thank god we didn't get that house".

I had the same thing getting my house (tiny little one-bedroom terrace house, perfect for me). The house I was after fell through when I got gazumped. Dejected, I started looking around for something else...and immediately found the house NEXT DOOR that had JUST come on the market, was roughly the same price, had a MUCH better kitchen, full central heating (which the other one lacked) and a driveway to boot!

I now live next door to the other house...which is still forlornly for sale, ten months on.

:D
