The training was obviously a bit crap. Sparring is the best bit.But taekwondo- just like every other martial art- is a sport. A really fun sport which has a few self defence applications.
If you want to learn how to "be hard" join the army. (I assume- as far as I know the army teaches people how to kill other people and that's what being hard is, right?)
