DIY disastersI just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.
Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

More of a DIY near death experienceMy dad was helping a mate gut a room and the last thing left to do was to knock the light switch out of both sides of an adjoining wall. The matey was having a bit of trouble chiselling it out so he asked my dad if he would go round the other side to see if there was anything blocking it. Of course he couldn't so he decided to have a closer look. This coincided with his mate deciding what was really needed at this point was a hefty whack on the said chisel with a mallet. The next thing my old man knew he was sporting a lovely new chisel above his eyebrow.
Silly tart.
