According to lady on the phone after I dialed 999, the police 'had the twos and blues on and would be there immediately'. After my description of the incident, I can only assume she thought the situation bad enough to send in some officers immediately.
As to why she thought it appropriate to send some officers immediately, yet the officers themselves seemed to delay their arrival I can only speculate.
Police officers do have an arsenal of non-lethal weapons and body armour, back up and the law on their side. They are also paid to do this.
The bouncer did an absolutely stirling job of protecting the customers to the best of his ability - maybe I'm foolish in thinking taht the police force would take the same pride in the same work should that opportunity arise.
