My brother in law's mumOn meeting his new wife, my fiances sister. Couldn't find the keys to her house after they returned from a night out.
She was a bit of a lush at the time and proceeded to take her tights off and squat outside her own house doing a piss, welcome to the family darlin. Although he didn't speak to her for about 5 years. Think you did the right thing though, ignoring alcholics will only make them feel more sorry for themselves, which normally means more drinking. Fair play to your old man for staying off the sauce as long as he did though, must have taken a lot of willpower, shame it came apart a bit at the end. Anyway good tale well told.
