Dumb things you've done
What's the stupidest thing you've ever done to yourself?
We're keeping this one open for two weeks to allow you to get up to stupid stuff and send it in.

Supermarket Self-Checkouts
As with computers, it seems when you put most people in front of a self checkout till they lose about 80 IQ points. I've seen people do all manner of inexplicable things at these tills, but the best has to be the time a quite young woman (so no 'senile' excuse) was, for a good minute or so, trying to scan a lettuce.

Being reasonably adept at computers.
I still get frustrated by those bastards. What's the point of making a machine that's supposed to negate having to talk to a screeching chimp behind a till; only to have the machine demand every single time that it gets checked by a member of staff?

I saw something similar
with a couple trying to scan a stripy aubergine. Despite the stripes, it didn't work.

It is my plan
to copy the UPC barcode from a can onto the side of my car, so that when I pass by a police car checking speed with a laser it tells them "Green Giant Peas- $0.89".

That woman always seems to be in front of me...
Working in a shop myself, I find them dead easy to use (although frustratingly slow), but I always end up stuck behind somebody who hasn't quite realised that it's the black and white stripes they need to scan, so spend a few minutes waving the ingredients list over the scanner.
I suggested to somebody in our local Tesco that they should amend the signs to read "10 items or fewer; Minimum IQ: 100" She had no sense of humour.
