Cron jobs
Every developer loves Cron jobs.
What's a cron job? Why, it's a list of instructions that are supposed to run on a webserver automatically, at regular intervals. Unless of course you have a crap webserver like the ones my company sprang for. Then you have to navigate to www.addressofsite.co.uk/cron.php every so often to update the site's internal search index.

Q: Uni, why are you playing bejewelled?
A: Cron job's running.

Q: Uni, why are you checking facebook?
A: Cron job's running.

Q: Uni, Why can't I see this product on the site yet? You said you'd put it up yesterday.
A: I did it yesterday. It's just not showing yet because I haven't...
Q:...run the cron job?
A: You're learning!

Bliss.
