coopsweb asks "What's the most expensive mistake you've ever made? Should I mention a certain employee who caused 4 hours worth of delays in Central London and got his company fined £500k?"
No points for stories about the time you had a few and thought it'd be a good idea to wrap your car around a bollard. Or replies consisting of "my wife".

I am a women and the amount of expensive crap I've bought thinking I'll wear it at some point...you wouldn't believe.
I spent £175 on 3 hand made silver bangles that are really too big and I've never worn them. £100 on a bag I hated after 2 weeks....need I go on.

If I adore the item on sight, then I will wear it. But, if I have to talk myself into buying it, it will end up sitting in the back of the closet.
May not work for everyone, but it has saved me a whole lot of money.
(edit: also works for houses, food, friends, and men....not just shopping)
