I did that
when replacing a PC's power unit fan, I thought I'll test it before i put it back together.
2 hours later I come to against my wardrobe, 6 foot away from the PSU on the floor.
Found that as I put the power cable in, I held the nice big capacitor on the other side, making me the easiest route for the mains to pass.
Hasn't affected me *twitch*
